Perimenopause is usually the stage preceding menopause in a woman’s reproductive system. Menopause is the period when a woman's ovaries stop functioning completely. Many women in their 40's and 50's are experiencing some of perimenopause symptoms. This simply means they are getting closer to the menopause age. However, many do not want to hear this, as they do not know how to handle it when that stage come.   Although menopause is change that is experienced by all normal women, its symptoms are really bothersome to some women. This is because the symptoms begin way early before a woman become menopause and her menstruation cycle stops completely. This can be induced due to surgery or occur naturally.   Some symptoms of perimenopause include the following; u   Headache u  Menstruation cycle changes u  Palpitation of the heart: This is the feeling of skipped heart beats or very fast heart beats within specific period. u  Reduction in sex drive u  Night sweats and hot flashes: this is an experience of sudden heat that is intense and may be followed by night or day sweats u  Tender or lumpy breasts u  Vaginal dryness u  Weight gain that is unexplained u  PMS u  Bloating and water retention

There are also emotional symptoms such as; u   Anxiety u  Anger u  Irritability and depression u  dizziness u  extreme fatigue and stress u  Difficulties in concentrating u  Mood swings There are some perimenopause symptoms which are very common such as menstruation transition signs which may be experienced early. These may include irregularity in periods which may happen even when a woman does not have any medical problem. The flow may become lighter or heavier, shorter or longer time between the periods and irregularly.   Perimenopause symptoms may appear as early as 30's, 40's or 50's in a woman's life. However, the good thing about early appearing symptoms is that they are likely to disappear by the time a woman become menopause. Some women do not experience perimenopause symptoms because menopause and perimenopause affect women differently.
